Economical Holiday Gifts

It really is the thought that counts.

With the holiday season approaching many people are thinking ‘How can I afford gifts for everyone?’ With a little creativity this problem is easily solved!

For the Coffee Drinker:
Place a $5 gift card to their favorite coffee house inside a mug, wrap in a few layers of tissue paper and tie off with ribbon.

Many stores offer $1 packets of coffee. Purchase several of these, place in a basket, and then your java lover will have a variety of flavors to try out!

Many coffee drinkers worry about enjoying their beverage of choice and then having coffee breath for the rest of the day. Take a coffee mug and fill it with mints, gum, or the breath freshener of choice. This gift can be wrapped in tissue paper or just given as is.

For the Cook:
Baskets are the best. Have a pasta lover? Fill a basket with several types of pasta and a jar of sauce. Dinner is served!

Most culinary enthusiasts can never have enough spices. Select several of their most used or favorite spices, place in a basket or even a bowl and present.

Kitchen utensils wear out quickly. Purchase several of the most commonly used utensils such as slotted spoons, serving spoons, and spatulas. Tie a ribbon or a piece of twine around them and a practical gift is created!

Have someone on your list who loves to bake? Buy a large mixing bowl and place various mixes inside. Not only will your baker love the mixes, the bowl can be used throughout the year.

For the Home:
Candles are always a great gift! There are a wide variety of scents and styles available at every price range. Buy one or several, wrap in tissue paper, and top with a bow!

So, what if there is someone on the list who loves candles but has already been given this great gift? Fear not, those candles will always need holders! Votive candle holders can be purchased rather inexpensively.

Pictures tell our lives and frames are a great gift idea. You can either select a special frame or a set of several frames. In addition, placing a picture in there of a shared event or a child will also create a keepsake.

The thought of giving holiday gifts does not have to be a headache. Keep the recipient in mind and there are plenty of ways to bring a smile to their face while keeping a budget in mind. Enjoy the holiday season and remember that it really is the thought that counts.

Sustainable and Eco-friendly Accessories

Discover the natural joys of using all organic hemp products and accessories. Quality hemp products offer an eco-friendly alternative to other natural and synthetic fabrics that harm the environment and do not hold up to everyday wear and tear. Beautiful handbags, sturdy backpacks, hemp wallets, belts, and other useful and sustainable products created from hemp will far outlast products made from other natural or synthetic materials. Hemp is strong and capable of maintaining its shape over prolonged use, providing both durability and less stretching of the material. Additionally, hemp becomes softer the more it is used and is naturally resistant to ultraviolet light and mold, making it the ideal alternative sustainable material to use in the production of handbags, belts, wallets, and other eco-friendly accessories.

The many benefits of hemp products make it the only choice to use in quality sustainable products. If you love the earth and wish to maintain its beauty for future generations, go green with fine quality hemp products to minimize harmful effects upon the earth. By using these eco-friendly hemp handbags, backpacks and other accessories that are hand-crafted and manufactured using fair-trade practices, you can do your part in helping the planet and protecting the environment one step at a time.

Zena Moon ..Handmade Candles in Spokane

I simply love candles, their glow, their scent and the good feelings that candles inspire. This spring I came across Zena Moon,a wonderful candle shop in the heart of Spokane, Washington. Carla Blazek is the creator, candle-maker and soul proprietor of Zena moon.

zena (zhay-na): means woman in Czech (Carla's heritage)
moon: honors the power, cycles and light reflected throughout our lives.

Zena Moon actively practices gratitude and sharing. Each quarter, Carla selects a charitable organization to donate a portion of all online sales to. The current month's organization is listed on her home page. She also frequently participates in other charitable giving, both locally and nationally.

Carla has made quite a name for herself including Oprah personally choosing her candles for her Live Your Best Life Tour, along with a mention in People magazine. Bestselling author SARK has recommended her candles in her monthly e-letter.

And to top this off, Carla runs a dog-friendly company. Elliott inspired and proudly poses with the woof! candle. Her bestselling comfort candle was inspired by Ranger, who passed over the Rainbow Bridge in February 2003.Her crazy princess Lucy inspired her upcoming "puppy love" gift set; and her newest boy, a rescue named Silas, is living proof that this too shall pass.

Easter Baskets for Girls and Boys

Easter is one of my favorite holidays of the year. The song "Here comes Peter Cotton Tail..Hopping down the bunny trail..hippity hop..Easters on its way" plays in my head at this time of year along with visions of Easter Baskets filled with chocolate bunnies, jellybeans and toys. I remember as a child, this was one of my Mom's favorite holidays also. This week I looked through the black and white photos that were taken with a Brownie camera..My sister and I decked out in new dresses and hats, white anklets and patent leather shoes ,white gloves and of course, new shiny purses. Our hair full of curls from those pink Styrofoam curlers that we slept on all night long. Mom would spray a little Aqua-Net on our hair to keep all those locks in place.

Depending on the weather at that time of year we would search for our Easter Baskets either inside the house or outside. Then after breakfast it was off to Sunday school. After church it was back home and finally a chance to go through that Easter Basket thoroughly!

I passed down these same traditions to my children and I hope they keep Easter Sunday fun and adventurous for their children as well.

Visit us at Planet One Gifts to see all of our Easter Gifts and send a Fair Trade Easter Basket to that special boy or girl. It is never too early to begin to teach your children about the world of Fair Trade and about living an Eco-friendly lifestyle. Our Easter basket is handwoven by artisans in Bangladesh and filled with biodegradable Easter grass. Four baskets to choose from based on age and gender.

We will add a personalized gift card message at no charge.

Planet One Gifts would like to give 3 LUCKY people a Lulu Life Lip Balm!!

Please read our Shea Butter and Lip Balm product reviews at Mkokopelli, an informational blog filled with Eco-friendly product reviews, deals, and many cool contests to find out all the details of our giveaway!

Here is a snippet of Mkokopelli's review about our Lulu Life Lip Balm:

"I love lip balms and am always in the search for the perfect balm that doesn't leave your lips dry after 10 minutes. The Lulu keeps your lips moist without leaving them cracked later. The lip balm is made with virgin shea butter, beeswax, and the essential oil you choose. I received the Citrus Blast and I can slightly taste or smell the citrus. It's not overpowering and I like the subtle scent. Vanilla, Spearmint, Pina Colada, and Strawberry are also available. You can purchase the Lulu Life Lip Balm for $9 at Planet One Gifts."
